Information involved

When you visit, your browser and the site’s hosting provider may exchange technical information such as your IP address, browser details and requested pages. When you search, your query, selected location and filters are used to produce results in your browser. If you allow Analytics, HouseGas sends Google Analytics page views and summary events for searches, empty results and supplier links. These custom events include country, service, result count and supplier identifier, but not the words or address you entered. If you email us, we receive the contact details and message you choose to send. Supplier listings may include publicly available business names, locations, services, websites and contact details.

Why we use it

We use this information to operate the directory, return relevant results, respond to enquiries, maintain listings and protect the site. Where data protection law applies, these activities may rely on our legitimate interests in running the directory or on steps you ask us to take, depending on the activity.

Other services

HouseGas pages may contact ipwho.is to suggest a country and, where available, German, Dutch, French or Spanish language using your public IP address. HouseGas.com does not request your device's precise location for this feature. If you type at least three characters into the location field, your typed text may be sent to Photon for address suggestions. Some pages request country photos from Unsplash and supplier icons from the supplier’s own website; those services receive normal web request information. Product cards display images loaded from manufacturer or retailer image hosts, which receive normal web request information. If you allow Analytics, pages load Google Analytics for usage measurement. If you allow Advertising, pages with ads load Google AdSense, which may process your IP address, browser information and ad interactions and use cookies or similar technology. Google may also present a separate advertising consent message in some regions. Clicking a product card sends a request to its linked retailer or manufacturer; that destination then handles information under its own privacy policy. Your email is handled by your email provider when you use a mailto link. Hosting providers may process server logs. Amazon affiliate links include a referral tag in the URL; Amazon may use its own cookies or other technologies after you leave HouseGas.com. HouseGas.com does not set Amazon cookies. External services have their own privacy policies.

Browser storage and retention

Search return state is kept in your browser session and ignored after two hours. A country suggestion from your public IP is cached in session storage for up to 24 hours. If you choose a language, that choice is saved in local storage for up to 90 days. Your HouseGas Analytics and Advertising choice is stored in a cookie for 90 days. HouseGas configures its Google Analytics cookies to expire after 90 days without extending that expiry on each page. Google AdSense may use its own cookies with different lifetimes. Former saved-country preferences are removed by the updated site. Google Analytics event retention is controlled in the GA4 property settings. We retain emails and any hosting logs only as needed for correspondence, site operation and applicable obligations; exact hosting log retention depends on the hosting provider’s settings. Your choices and rights

You can change the suggested country in search, use Cookie settings in the footer to change Analytics or Advertising choices, clear site data in your browser, or contact us to ask about information we hold. Google may separately ask for advertising consent in some regions. Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or object to processing of your personal information, and to complain to a relevant privacy authority. We will consider requests under the law that applies to them.

Changes

We will update this notice when our services or data practices change. Google Analytics and Google AdSense may use cookies or similar technology according to the applicable consent setting. Amazon may use its own technologies after a visitor follows an affiliate link to its site.
